Warrington’s Bike Hire Scheme celebrates its first year
Warrington is celebrating its first year of its Brompton Dock bike hire scheme and as an introductory promotion, Brompton Bicycle Limited is offering a no-obligation opportunity to take a ‘Leisure’ membership of the scheme for only £1.00 – which includes free hire of a bike for two days.
The scheme allows the hire of a folding Brompton Bike for as little as £2.50 per 24 hours with a ‘Frequent’ membership or at £5.00 per day with a ‘Leisure’ membership. Joining is simple, quick and easy and hiring or returning a bike can be done each time by text or email.
There are three ‘Docks’ in Warrington holding 60 of the folding bikes outside Warrington Central, Warrington Bank Quay and Birchwood railway stations.
Once hired, bikes can be used for commuting around Warrington or can be folded up and taken with you for your ongoing journey on the bus, taxi or train. They can be returned to any of the Brompton Docks in Warrington or at any of the Docks in any of the seventeen Brompton Dock locations around the UK.
The hire scheme forms part of the council’s Warrington Sustainable Travel Triangle Project, which is funded by the government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund and aims to provide Warrington with sustainable and low carbon travel choices.
Councillor Linda Dirir, Executive Member, Highways Transportation and Climate Change, Warrington Borough Council, said: “The Brompton Dock Bicycle Hire scheme is a brilliant and convenient idea.
“It is inexpensive, handy for commuting and great on those lovely summer days when you simply fancy a bike ride in the sunshine”.
