The Brink to hold CD and choir launch this Thursday

The Brink is playing host to a weekly choir to enable recovery through vocal treatment.

The much-adored Parr Street eatery and social hub, which attracts the recovery community and the general public alike, has teamed up with Hayli Kincade, who is an advanced practitioner in performing arts, specialising in the voice.

In hopes of offering an ‘open-hearted audio retreat’ for those battling alcohol and drug addiction, the choir aims to build healthy relationships amongst members who are actively seeking help into positively transforming their lives.

Events Manager David Barnicle said: “After establishing the choir just recently, Hayli and I have already seen such tremendous progression throughout the group. We hope that our numbers will grow significantly over the next few months, as more people become aware of the unique creative recovery treatment. Therefore, we would like to welcome anybody that is interested to come along and join in.

“The choir is a way of escapism for those in remission, whereby they can socially interact with people who are going through similar things. Also, the uplifting music helps to boost group morale and spirits.”

To celebrate the newly formed choir, a special public showcase and CD launch will take place this Thursday, July 24. Starting at 7.30pm, visitors will enjoy a series of harmonic sounds whilst they dine and socialise.

David added: “By using performing arts to tackle socio-political issues, Hayli has a truly unique way of raising the choir members’ confidence, as well as increasing their self-esteem. The group truly appreciate the on-going support from the wonderful choir director.”
