Local estate agent supports Wooden Spoon
Local Estate Agent Your Move Chris Stonock has announced their support of The Wooden Spoon in County Durham and two senior members of staff are now patrons of the charity. Wooden Spoon was founded in 1983 and since then they have been making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people.
Michael Stephenson “We are thrilled to have Your Move Chris Stonock on board. Wooden Spoon is one of the largest funders of respite and medical treatment centres, sensory enhancement therapeutic facilities, specialist playgrounds, sports activity areas, and community-based programmes in the UK. So far we have granted over £20 million to these fantastic projects. Inspired by our rugby heritage, our values of passion, integrity, teamwork, and fun have so far helped over 1 million young people and children in need.”
We asked Tim Stonock, Area Sales Director at Your Move Chris Stonock and Patron of Wooden Spoon why it is so important to support the charity. “When Michael approached me to become a patron of the charity, the link to sport, in particular rugby attracted me. We want to support the communities that we do business in and Wooden Spoon makes sure that all the money raised stays in the local community to fund local projects.”
The first event as sponsors was a Garden Party at Jesmond Dene Hotel where over £1700 was raised with fundraising activities including raffles, a wine tasting contest and an artist tutorial. During the Garden Party, a cheque for £25,000 was presented to Doug Long, Heel and Toe Chairman explained what this money would do for them “Heel & Toe provides over 12,000 hours of free therapy each year to children from across the region at our two centres in Durham and Darlington. With this contribution from Wooden Spoon we will be able to move to bigger and better premises in Pelton and reach further into the community to help kids with conductive therapy.”
