Everton boss Martinez wows IFB crowd
Everton FC manager Roberto Martinez helped the club make its mark on the International Festival of Business when he met a room full of supporters from the world of commerce.
Martinez was the star of the show as the club held an event at the IFB Hub in Liverpool city centre.
He was joined by Chief Executive Robert Elstone who led a presentation on the Club’s goals and challenges in the world of Premier League football.
Hosted by Media and Publications Manager, Darren Griffiths, the event welcomed a randomly selected group of hospitality members who had already renewed their lounge membership at Goodison for 2014/15.
Also present were members of the Everton Heritage Society, representatives of the Fans’ Forum and members of the IFB team.
The club partnered with IFB, Marketing Liverpool and Liverpool Vision for the exclusive and intimate event.
After an introduction from Director of Marketing Liverpool, Chris Brown, the audience were treated to a visual overview of last season before Elstone and Martinez took to the stage in turn.
Elstone discussed the four pillars of the club - knowledge of its fans, creating memorable matchdays, being easy to buy from and ownership and participation - including outlines as to the improvements being made to each strand.
The Blues boss was then quizzed on a number of topics surrounding last season’s successes, the World Cup and his ambitions for the forthcoming campaign, before the floor was opened up for questions from the audience.
At this point the conversation flowed between everything from Martinez’s views on youth development to the new challenge of European football.
The evening was wrapped up with a networking session for the like-minded Blues, while Martinez stayed for photographs with the evening’s guests.
The event marks the end of the IFB which has been held in Liverpool city centre from 1 June – 22 July, with plans already announced for its return in 2016.
