Caddick Construction awarded £2.4 million revamp of The Core shopping centre Leeds
Yorkshire-based business, Caddick Construction has been awarded a £2.4 million contract to create a new food cluster area and to carry out essential refurbishments to The Core Shopping Centre in Leeds.
Caddick Construction has been awarded the contract to fulfil work to the Leeds city centre shopping centre, which already boasts an impressive list of leisure and retail brands, including Waitrose, New Look, JD Sports, Sports Direct, HMV, BANK, The Gym and the newest food and beverage outlet, Burger King. The construction team began work last month and are scheduled to be on site for 26 weeks.
Simon Laycock, project manager at Caddick Construction, comments: “Securing a new design and build contract with The Core is a great addition to our portfolio of local clients.
“We have a vast amount of retail experience, having recently worked on the new Vangarde Shopping Park in York, The Ellesmere Shopping Centre in Walkden and the new shopping parade in Rotherham, highlighting our capability of delivering high quality projects from £500k to £30 million.
“Over the next 26 weeks we’ll be creating eight new food outlet spaces and seating areas in order to bolster The Core’s restaurant line-up. We’ll also be adding a new escalator to sit alongside the current escalator at Lands Lane, so that shoppers can now move between both levels of the centre, with ease.
“As well as this, new feature glass surrounding the stairwell will be installed to provide an aesthetic feel to the area. What’s more the Lands Lane entrance will also have new windows fitted, in order to provide further appeal for new tenants looking for a prime Leeds City Centre location.”
Nicola Lavelle, property manager at The Core Shopping Centre said, “As Leeds’ food and retail scene continues to adapt and develop, the evolution of The Core Shopping Centre will add an exciting new dimension to the city, especially to its food offering.
“We are in talks with some exciting brands and we look forward to announcing a flurry of new food and beverage offerings in the not so distant future.”
