Persimmon Homes donates £2,000 to help injured soldiers
Leading regional builder Persimmon Homes Thames Valley has given its backing to injured soldiers by donating thousands of pounds to Help for Heroes.
Persimmon Homes was so impressed with the work of the charity, that it stumped up £2,000 to help servicemen and women who have been injured in conflict.
Persimmon Homes Thames Valley made the pledge at the LABC Central Building Excellence Awards recently, during which site manager Mark Ablett won the Warranty Regional Site Manager Award 2014 for his Prince’s Gate site at Mount Pleasant Lane in Hatfield.
Managing director of Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, Ian Menham said: “Help for Heroes does incredible work and we’re delighted to be able to help with this donation.
“So many servicemen and women have suffered life changing injuries while serving our country.
“Their battles continue long after the war ends, which is why charities like Help for Heroes are so important.
“Their heroics must not be forgotten just because they have returned home.”
Help for Heroes aims to inspire and enable those who have been injured during service.
The charity runs four recovery centres across the country.
Hannah Bower, donor development manager for Help for Heroes, said: “As a charity we would not exist without our amazing supporters.
“The generosity of Persimmon Homes will make a huge difference to the lives of some truly inspirational people.
“The money will help to ensure that they do not have to face these battles alone.”
Meanwhile, Persimmon Homes has helped two men make the transition from the military to civilian life by offering them jobs as assistant site managers.
The pair will take up their new roles next month after calling time on their Army careers.
Mr Menham added: “We look forward to welcoming both men onto the team.”
Furthermore, members of Britain’s Armed Forces looking to buy their own home in the UK could benefit from a dedicated sales scheme from Persimmon. This year Persimmon has already helped more than 100 of Britain’s Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence personnel into a brand new home through the Government’s Forces Help to Buy initiative.
The scheme aims to address the low rate of home ownership in the Armed Forces.
