Sir John Hall rallies together North East businesses
Sir John Hall headlined an event at Woodhorn Colliery Museum on Wednesday with local business leaders to encourage them to support and mentor emerging entrepreneurs in the region.
Working alongside Business Northumberland, the free startup business initiative, North Seaton born and raised Sir John spoke of the need for more experienced business mentors within Northumberland.
Business Northumberland offers established and start-up businesses in the county free support in reaching their full growth potential. It is a free service that provides business advice and support to anyone thinking about starting a business in Northumberland and also offers business coaching to existing businesses with growth ambitions.
Business Northumberland is jointly funded by Arch, The Northumberland Development Company, Northumberland County Council and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Already the free start-up business initiative has helped over 900 businesses, from across Northumberland, access business start up workshops, receive information and also obtain face to face advice.
Speaking at the event, Sir John Hall, said: “We are a great region, we shouldn’t live in the past, we should learn from it. Sometimes we have to all stand up for our area and move forward. We need the skills, knowledge and drive of our entrepreneurs to guide others in the right direction.”
Also speaking at the event were several current mentors in the programme, who outlined their experiences in successfully supporting early stage businesses.
Business Northumberland’s Ian Coull, said: “The event was a great success and it was great to have Sir John Hall and so many prominent business people around us. It gave everyone an insight into the importance of business mentors and how local entrepreneurs will benefit greatly from this. We want to engage with as many potential mentors as possible to support business growth across the region.”
In addition to running workshops, Business Northumberland is also able to provide business support and advice through its knowledgeable business support team. Further information on the support available can be found at www.businessnorthumberland.co.uk
