Preston law firm supports Lancashire Women’s Centres

Women in Blackpool have been able to benefit from free legal advice on a range of issues, thanks to a number of clinics set up by law firm Marsden Rawsthorn.

The Preston and Chorley based solicitors has linked up with Lancashire Women’s Centres, to run a series of free clinics, providing legal advice on everything from family matters and housing to money problems and domestic abuse.

Debbie Topping from the Women’s Centre in Blackpool said: “The clinics have proved invaluable to women in the area. We see women from all walks of life, some are very vulnerable and find it daunting to go and visit a solicitor. We offer them the choice of making an appointment, an informal confidential phone call or simply dropping in.”

The centres are a safe, non-judgemental and professional environment that is female only between the hours of 10am - 3pm. As well as the legal clinics, they offer an array of opportunities including employment support, wellbeing and classes such as knitting and crafts, as well as the chance to meet up with other women in similar situations.

Janet Walker, business development manager at Marsden Rawsthorn added: “The clinics are providing an extremely worthwhile service, by experienced professionals, to those, who otherwise wouldn’t know where to turn or aren’t able to support themselves financially.

“We’ve had great feedback from women who have attended and received advice, which has made a positive difference to their life.”

Marsden Rawsthorn’s free clinics take place at the Lancashire Women’s Centre on Church Street, Blackpool every Tuesday between 2pm and 5pm. For further information, visit www.womenscentres.co.uk
