Sunderland entrepreneurs launch game-changing kickboxing event

On Sunday 27th of July, Thir13teen13 promotions launched K1ngs of Glory, a North East kickboxing event at Rainton Meadows arena in Houghton-le-Spring.

The event, which was lead by Sunderland entrepreneurs Dale Percival and Steven Scott, is the first of its size in the North East.

Crowds were drawn to the event with the promise of witnessing several high profile fights, including that of internationally-renowned Mixed Martial Artist Colin “Freakshow” Fletcher’s victory against former UFC and BAMMA fighter Andre Winner.

In addition, current UK number 1 Thai boxer Reece McAllister went on to capture a title in his win over Serbian-born Dragan Pesic.

The promotional company, which was founded in 2011 by Percival and Scott, also organises MMA event Made4theCage at Rainton Meadows.

Creative director, Steven Scott, told Bdaily: “We have come so far in such a short time. We used to organise events in working mens club, and now we regularly fill this arena.

“We have achieved so much during such a difficult economic climate - it all boils down to our passion for the sport. Financial success is a mere byproduct our passion and thirst for success.”

Thir13teen13 promotions worked closely with several North East businesses, including Smooth Motion Pictures, who have seen significant success since filming the Made4thecage events.

Scott added: “We mean to facilitate success for all of the businesses involved. We intend to build a mutually-beneficial network of hard-working, relevant small businesses like Smooth Motion, who have now gone on to work on projects abroad, thanks to the exposure they received from Made for the Cage.”

Following the success of K1ngs of Glory, we are aiming to promote events in all areas of combat, with a submission wrestling event on the horizon as well as the next of its successful Made4thecage events later this year.
