£250k revamp sees ex-North Yorkshire royal residence labelled a "top gaff" by Oasis frontman
176 year old Rudby Hall in North Yorkshire has invested £250k in a refurbishment of the former royal residence, with its first customer Liam Gallagher declaring it a “top gaff”.
It opened its doors to the public for the first time in its 176 year history over the weekend as a luxury bed and breakfast, of which the former Oasis co-lead vocalist and Beady Eye front man was one of the first guests.
Whilst staying at Rudby Hall the renowned entertainer (pictured below with the Rudby Hall team) wrote in the guestbook: “Can’t remember a thing, so must have had a good time. Top gaff, nice people.”
His girlfriend Debbie Gwyther added: “Stayed here for few nights for a friend’s wedding. Great hospitality, brilliant nights’ sleep and an ace breakfast to top it off….perfect!”
The grand grade II* listed hall, which is located near Hutton Rudby in North Yorkshire, started offering luxury bed and breakfast accommodation this weekend following a meticulous conservation and refurbishment project to restore it to its former glory.
Six weddings and private functions have already been held at Rudby Hall since the renovation earlier this year, which involved restoring original features within the Georgian style building including the ornate ceilings.
Wendy Desiles of Rudby Hall, said: “We are delighted to unveil Rudby Hall in all its glory to the public for the first time since it was built in 1838 as a royal residence for the daughter of King William IV Lady Amelia Cary and her husband the 10th Viscount Falkland.
“To have the pleasure to welcome Liam Gallagher to the hall as our first bed and breakfast guest was a real honour. It is testament to the grandeur of the hall that attracted him personally to stay with us and be our first official bed and breakfast guest. He appreciated the total privacy that Rudby Hall can offer.
“Positioned in the heart of the North Yorkshire countryside guests can now experience the opulence of the hall and grounds either whilst staying in our luxury accommodation or holding a private function.
“With its abundance of historical and architectural interest along with its picturesque surroundings with stunning views of the River Leven and the North Yorkshire Moors, Rudby Hall is a venue of distinction to be appreciated.”
