Dental laboratory expands into former car showroom in Bradford
Dental laboratory firm PDS Dental has expanded after relocating its Pudsey headquarters to Bradford.
The unit at Bizspace’s Albion Mills Business Centre in Greengates was originally opened by Sir Stirling Moss in 2008 as a bespoke supercar showroom and conference centre.
Its original owner closed the business in 2010 and in the interim four years the building has had various temporary uses, including a wedding venue and art space.
The firm, which employs 80 staff, has relocated its headquarters from Pudsey into the site off Albion Road, as well as a second laboratory from Newcastle. Its new premises will allow it to develop and expand its business into the future.
The laboratory is located on the former showroom floor and work had to be completed to run gas pipes to each of the lab desks before the business could open.
The unit also has office space, a post room and staff break out area and work is underway on creating a training area and two brand new purpose built dental surgeries which will be open to the public, offering high end cosmetic dentistry and facial rejuvenation.
Bizspace sales and marketing director, Emma Long, said:“The unit had such unique features and was finished to a very high specification, but because of its size it has taken some time to find the right occupier,” she said.
“We have had plenty of interest from people considering the site for a wide range of different uses and we are delighted that it has now been brought to life once more by an ambitious, forward-thinking business.
“The laboratory fit out has been completed to an impressive standard and the occupation of such a large space has created a fantastic buzz in the area.”
Business manager Stephanie Hudson, whose dad, Brendan Hudson, founded the business in 1990 explained how the company first found the unit: “The site was first suggested to us by a friend of the family who also has a business at Albion Mills.
“At first I couldn’t picture how we would fit into a car showroom, but Brendan could see the potential straight away, and now it feels as though it was made for us.
“All the staff have more room and we have a bright, modern working environment that is really welcoming for when we open our two brand new purpose built cosmetic surgeries to the public.”
The accommodation is split over 13,235 sq ft to the ground floor and a further 1,385 sq ft to the mezzanine first floor.
