Bolton Wanderers aided by Brabners in Macron sponsorship deal
The sports law team at Brabners has advised Bolton Wanderers on its agreement with Macron to become the Club’s official kit supplier and naming rights partner from the 2014-15 season.
Italian sportswear manufacturer Macron will provide match kits, training wear and leisurewear for the Club from the beginning of the upcoming 2014-15 season, with the new Bolton Wanderers kits having been unveiled this summer.
In addition, the deal with Macron includes the naming rights for Bolton’s stadium, which has been renamed as ‘Macron Stadium’.
The deal adds to Brabners’ wealth of experience of advising on kit sponsorship and supply arrangements, as well as venue related agreements, including the increasingly prevalent area of naming rights and matters relating to ground sharing and event hosting.
David Bentham, a Partner in the Sports law team at Brabners acted for Bolton Wanderers in the negotiations along with solicitor Oliver Sadler.
David Bentham commented: “We were delighted to assist Bolton in such an important agreement, with Macron providing the Club’s kit and with the Club’s stadium being renamed.
“The naming rights element in particular raised various considerations and it was good to use our expertise and experience in this area to assist Bolton on this deal.”
Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside commented: “This is clearly an exciting and significant deal for the Club relating to two key areas of our business, being kit supply and naming rights.
“We were delighted to benefit from Brabners’ assistance and experience throughout the process, which helped us negotiate and finalise the arrangements as effectively and efficiently as possible, and we look forward to developing our partnership with Macron.”
