Bank funding helps Yorkshire sausage-making start up sizzle
Yorkshire sausage making company Heck Food has announced expansion plans with funding from Barclays.
Heck Food, established in 2013, is located at Leeming Business Park, Bedale, North Yorkshire. Run by husband and wife team Andrew and Debbie Keeble, the entrepreneurial duo previously ran the successful company Debbie&Andrew’s which they sold to J&J Tranfield in 1995.
Following the new company’s decision to transfer production away from Yorkshire, Andrew and Debbie decided to part with the brand and their old business and launch a new business together with their children Jamie, Roddy, Ellie and Guy.
Debbie Keeble, director, Heck Food said: “We manufacture and retail premium pork sausages and hand mix every batch we make.
“The move to Barclays and the new funding they’ve made available will allow us to take the business to the next level and expand the brands and products we supply to most of the major supermarkets.”
Heck Food currently supply high street names Tesco, Asda, Morrison’s, Waitrose and Booths and have expansion plans to get further high street chains on board.
As well as the family, they employ 21 people locally and turnover is expected to more than double in the next 12 months.
Mike Wicks, senior business banking manager at Barclays arranged the funding and said: “Heck Food has an experienced and ambitious management team that has a great reputation for producing quality sausages.
“The funding will enable the company to increase production and broaden their product base and the future looks bright for this well-managed company. We’re delighted to welcome them to Barclays.”
