Harrogate health and fitness club invests £500k in new equipment

The Academy Health Club in Harrogate has invested £500k in new interactive gym technology.

Berkshire-based Technogym’s ARTIS line of equipment that will enable The Academy to offer interactive training to its customers.

Users log in to each ARTIS machine, Facebook, Twitter, a web cam and other apps can be integrated on the UNITY console allow members to be entertained and stay in touch with contacts while working out.

Philippa Shackleton, managing director for The Academy Health Club, said, “We are proud to be the oldest, most established and most experienced club in Harrogate.

“We have a constant commitment to offer members the best experience from start to finish, whatever their choice of activity.

“This is why we have chosen to invest in Technogym’s ARTIS, which offers the most connected and well-rounded fitness experience today.

“We are delighted to be one of the first ARTIS installations in the North of England, and we will also be the first health club in North Yorkshire to have Omnia, to cater for those who prefer functional movements to static strength training.

“With this, our fourth gym refurbishment over the years, we can safely say that this exclusive installation puts us amongst the most up-to-date and technically advanced gyms in the country.”

Work on the gym refurbishment will commence on 15 August 2014 and the gym will reopen on 1 September 2014.
