Sunderland firm turns over £500k in first year of trading
A North East electric vehicle charging point company is celebrating a successful first year of trading, with a turnover in excess of £500k - 100% ahead of their predicted target growth.
Sunderland based, Elm EV - founded by Daniel Martin and Anthony Piggott - is one of few companies in the country to specialise purely in the installation of electric vehicle charge points. As part of a government backed scheme offering free EV charge points to UK homeowners, Elm EV has installed over 1400 home charge units to households across the region.
Only trading for a year, Elm EV has smashed its first year expectations by £250,000. Daniel Martin said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved in such a short space of time, providing our customers with a reliable, high quality product that will future-proof both homes and businesses,
“We’re very passionate about sourcing the best available technology to suit our customer’s needs giving them the reassurance that they have the best quality product available and that will last them many years to come.”
With sales in electric vehicles doubling in 2013 to around 200,000 units, the increase in demand for EV charging points is mirroring this increase. And according to automotive industry experts it is the government backed scheme - offering homeowners the opportunity to install a free charge point to their property - which has facilitated the growth in the electric vehicle market, whilst also preparing non EV owners for their future purchases.
Installing over 1400 home charge points in the North East, Elm EV has successfully managed to position itself as an industry leader in the supply and install of the technology which is increasing the EV infrastructure. Following on from its domestic success, Elm EV is now making its mark within the commercial sector offering its charging solutions to a wealth of businesses nationwide.
Anthony said: “Businesses have a great opportunity to install a charge point to cater for the current and future needs of their customers and employees. Through installing a charge point, our commercial customers have increased traffic to their business and generated more custom whilst also increasing their green credentials. On top of this, with all of our charge points, we offer the additional extra to set up a tariff to the charge point, allowing businesses to benefit from an additional revenue stream should they want it.”
Further expanding their capabilities, Elm EV’s highly trained installers have also recently qualified to become certified installers for a global leader in EV charge points - French based DBT - manufacturers of rapid charge equipment. Elm EV is now one of only a handful of companies in the country qualified to work with its units. As such this end to end service of supplying, fitting and initialising the unit will enable customers to save a vast amounts of money installing one of the industry’s most rapid charger.
Elm EV specialise in installing electric vehicle charge points to homes and businesses throughout the UK offering a full end to end service, from initial free survey through to carrying out installations by its qualified electricians. The company specialises in supplying electric charge points to a range of businesses including hotels, restaurants and food pubs and boasts clients including Caterpillar UK and Your Homes Newcastle.
