Prominent North East businessman joins Museum Development Trust Board

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) has recruited North East business consultant, Ammar Mirza CBE to the Board of the TWAM Development Trust.

Ammar, who has over 20 years’ experience leading and advising businesses, is a founding member of Asian Business Connexions, an organisation which connects supports and promotes the Asian and wider business community.

Ammar has experience in fundraising and is patron of a number of charities. He has raised in excess of £2 million for charities in the last 10 years and was awarded a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for outstanding services to Business and the Community by Her Majesty the Queen in June 2014.

In his new role as a Trustee for the TWAM Development Trust Ammar will play a key role in shaping and supporting fundraising initiatives in order to deliver TWAM’s long-term goal of building a world-class archive and museum service that makes a difference to people’s lives.

Ammar Mirza CBE, said: “Deciding to get involved in the TWAM Development Trust was probably one of the easiest decisions I have ever made having experienced first-hand the great work of TWAM. Already being a staunch supporter, through regular visits and a modest donor, I am now keen to take a more formal ambassadorial role, utilising my professional networks to help TWAM achieve its ambitions.”
