@theacademy brings family sport & exercise to Sheffield
PLANNING permission has been granted for the conversion of a former industrial shed close to Sheffield city centre into a children’s sports and adult training academy.
The design team at award winning Sheffield architectural practice Coda Studios have been working on the project on behalf of @theacademy, a company that provides sport and fitness coaching for the whole family.
@theacademy runs classes specifically designed for 4-6 year old, 6-9 year olds, 9-13 year olds, 13-18 year olds and adults, focusing on five main sports - rugby, football, cricket, hockey and netball - for under 13s and strength & conditioning activities for 13+ and adults.
The new premises at Henry Street close to Shalesmoor will be @theacademy’s first purpose designed and fitted facility.
“We are delighted to be working with @theacademy on this exciting and important new project,” said Coda Studios Managing Director David Cross.
“The new academy will be a major addition to the regeneration of the whole Shalesmoor area and is a perfect example of how existing buildings can be brought to new life with an imaginative approach to design.”
@theacademy Managing Director and former Sheffield Eagles & Scotland rugby league player Jack Howieson commented: “We are very excited about the opening of @theacademy Sheffield.
“As a company we are passionate about providing convenient services to promote fitter, happier, healthier families.
“We aim to provide something for everyone whether you are energetic four year old or a health conscious 40 year old.”
