Families walk the plank at Pirate Family Fun Day

Thousands of North East families set sail into a sea of family fun as Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure in Cramlington celebrated its annual pirates’ day.

Over 31,000 shoppers visited Manor Walks as the centre welcomed families aboard its Pirate Family Fun Day, hosted at Cramlington Town Square in partnership with Concordia Leisure Centre, Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure and Cramlington Town Council.

The day-long event offered photo opportunities with Captain Raggy Beard, a pirate fancy dress competition and a treasure hunt. Manor Walks’ retailers, including Frankie & Benny’s, Hungry Horse, Asda, Dominos, Newcastle Building Society, Yorkshire Linen Company and Vue Cramlington, were all hands on deck entertaining families, while other activities included a play bus, face painting, a sand pit and fitness class demonstrations from the Concordia Leisure Centre team.

Bruno Coppola, general manager at Manor Walks, said: “We like to regularly reward our customers for their valuable time spent at Manor Walks which helps to make the centre such a vibrant place to visit. It’s always great to work in partnership with Concordia Leisure Centre, Blyth Valley Arts and Leisure and Cramlington Town Council to host our annual Pirate Family Fun Day.

“Each year the event stands as a cornerstone in our summer calendar and it is wonderful to gather the community together for it. Once again this year’s event was a huge success as the day of the event boasted the highest footfall of that week, with over 31,000 people visiting the centre on the day. It was fantastic to welcome familiar faces and new ones to the event, which attracts a great family crowd.”

With over 100 retailers including Northumberland’s only multiplex cinema and a great range of family restaurants as well as high street favourites and independent stores, Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure in Cramlington offers a huge amount of choice to suit a range of tastes.
