Hexham entrepreneur appears on Dragon’s Den
Hexham-based entrepreneur Anne Livesey has gained support from Dragon’s Den stars for her startup Gift in a Tin.
Anne, who has been running her business for six years, appeared on the BBC show yesterday with her trademarked gift tins containing an array of unusual gifts.
She has already been working alongside ex-Dragon Theo Paphitis when he selected her business as one of his Small Business Sunday winners on Twitter.
Anne said: “I had a great time in the Den, what an experience! Such a small number of entrepreneurs get the opportunity, so I feel very lucky to have come face to face with the Dragons!”
“Theo has been great, introducing me to high street buyers, these types of contacts are invaluable at opening doors for a small business”.
“Gift in a Tin has been a great business to run, it’s constantly changing but I wanted to take some of my ideas a little further”.
Anne has launched her new business for 2015, Knit Tins, to run alongside Gift in a Tin, being selected by The Pitch 2014 as one of the UK’s 100 top businesses.
The new business will be based around selling knitting kits with only UK top quality yarn and offering a helpline for support and online video tutorials for anyone who gets stuck.
