IoD strengthens Leeds Met relations as it moves into on-campus offices

Leeds Metropolitan University is strengthening its relationship with the Institute of Directors (IoD) as the group expands with a new Yorkshire and Humber regional office on the University campus.

The Yorkshire and Humber branch of the IoD will be permanently based at Old Broadcasting House from Monday 1 September.

Leeds Metropolitan University has worked in partnership with the IoD since 1991 when the University became the regional providers of the IoD Company Direction programme: a course aimed at developing company directors, entrepreneurs and aspiring board members.

Professor Andrew Slade, deputy vice chancellor at Leeds Metropolitan University, commented: “The IoD coming to Old Broadcasting House at Leeds Metropolitan University reinforces the strong relationship between our university and the Institute.

“Old Broadcasting House lies right at the crossroads between our university and the commercial heart of Leeds and is ideally suited for the collaboration between the economic powerhouse and the innovation drivers of both universities in Leeds City centre, so necessary in today’s challenging times.”

IoD regional director for Yorkshire & the Humber, Natalie Sykes, added: “This will be the first time since the inception of our partnership with LMU that our hub, regional office and the delivery of our renowned Company Direction Programme will all be in the same location.

“We see this as an affirmation of our on-going commitment to developing exceptional directors throughout our region, and for those that wish to pursue it, onwards to the IoD’s Chartered Director qualification. Old Broadcasting House is an iconic building which has been beautifully restored.

“I am sure all of our members will enjoy the new location. There will also be a number of regional events taking place there, starting with our launch on October 21st, which forms part of the IoD Director General’s visit to our region.”

The IoD’s move will be officially launched at an event on Tuesday 21 October which will be attended by the Director General of the IoD, Simon Walker.
