Christmas Presence needed for Teenage Cancer Trust Concert

STARS FROM across the country will be returning to Newcastle later this year in support of an annual concert that raises money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

The third Christmas at the Cathedral Concert will take place on 17th December at St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle. The popular concert features a range of celebrity performances alongside carols and readings to celebrate Christmas.

This year’s concert will again be produced by Ray Laidlaw who as well as being one of the founding members of the north-east band Lindisfarne, also produces the bi-annual Sunday for Sammy concert as well as a number of other productions.

The concert is being principally sponsored for the third year by Clarke Mairs Solicitors of Newcastle and is organised by the Teenage Cancer Trust North East Fundraising Board.

The official launch of this year’s concert and the opening of ticket sales was celebrated today by Louise Haggie of Clarke Mairs Solicitors and Ray Laidlaw together with Jonathan Wallis who is the Chairman of the Teenage Cancer Trust North East Fundraising Board.

Whilst no announcements have been made yet as to who will be performing at this year’s concert, previous performers have included Auf Wiedersehen, Pet’s Tim Healy, Emmerdale’s Charlie Hardwick and Chelsea Halfpenny, Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall, ITV Vera’s David Leon, Blue Peter’s Helen Skelton and north east favourite Billy Mitchell.

At today’s launch Ray Laidlaw commented: “Without giving too much away we already have a number of well-known faces interested in performing at this year’s event. We have been well supported over the past two years and this year’s concert promises to be even better. Christmas at the Cathedral is becoming one of the most popular Christmas events in Newcastle”.

Louise Haggie of Clarke Mairs Solicitors said: “We are delighted to be able to support Christmas at the Cathedral and Teenage Cancer Trust again this year. It is a fantastic night that always brings so many people together in support of a very worthwhile cause”.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients. The charity asked supporters to use their imagination and organise a fundraising event to raise funds for the seven young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day.

Christmas at the Cathedral will take place on 17th December at Newcastle Cathedral and starts at 7 pm. Tickets are available through Newcastle City Hall and can be purchased by going through their website or by calling 0191 2778030.
