York-based Persimmon Homes set to invest £32 million in Little Heath

York-based house builder Persimmon is set to begin on a new housing development in Little Heath, Coventry costing in the region of £32 million.

The site bought by Persimmon Homes South Midlands in February will offer a range of two to five bedroom homes and is expected to start in September.

The development will not only enhance the character and appearance of the wider site, recently designated Coventry Canal Corridor Conservation Area, but will also provide a collection of desirable new homes and public open spaces including sports pitches and play areas.

The first phase of the development, to be known as Weavers Gate is situated on a 5.5 acre plot accommodating 66 houses and is anticipated to be complete by mid-2016, with the first sales anticipated in spring 2015. The new properties will be accessed from Old Church Road.

Situated just three miles north of Coventry City Centre, Weavers Gate is at the heart of the country and provides easy access to the M6 and M69 – making commuting to the North and London a much easier task.

Andy Peters, managing director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “Our investment in Coventry forms an integral part of our expansion programme to bring further new homes to the region to meet the growing demand.

“With our current dual branded site at Bannerbrook Park, Webster’s Park, Little Heath and the Holbrook Way site set to get underway by the end of the year we will deliver well in excess of 1,000 new homes to meet the needs of the Coventry housing market.”
