Gold Award for Leyland landscapers

Two landscapers from Leyland are celebrating success after scooping gold at the prestigious RHS Tatton Flower Show.

Neil Staff and Adam Robinson of Concept Landscapes, located at Avant Garden Centre, Leyland Road, worked closely with Irish designer Ian Price to construct the 12m x 7m garden, which focused on the theme – ‘the elements’.

It was the first time the team had worked with Ian, and involved Neil and Adam working 12 hours a day, seven days a week leading up to the show.

The garden, which would have cost in excess of £30,000 if replicated, comprised 10 tons of soil, with more than 500 plants and grasses, along with black basalt stone, pebbles, sculptures and reflection pool.

The judges praised the garden, with RHS Judge Mark Gregory stating that he ‘couldn’t fault the hard landscaping, the quality of the plants and the planting scheme’.

Neil Staff said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded this huge accolade. The judges at the RHS Tatton Show are extremely stringent and the competition is very strong.

“Our 25 years experience between us in landscape gardening has paid off. Despite the hard work, we are now looking forward to working with Ian on the design for the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show next year.”

Ian Price added: “As a designer you can draw anything, but unless you have the right contractor that can make it a reality, your design will never fulfil its true potential. Concept Landscapes was an amazing company to work alongside.

“Their professionalism, care, attention to the finest details and their ability to get the work done with the added bonus of having fun, made the intense show garden building experience so much easier.”
