Housebuilder Barratt say they have invested £50 million in Yorkshire’s economy

Housebuilder Barratt Developments have announced that in the last 12 months they have invested more that £50 million in the Yorkshire economy by working with regional sub-contractors and suppliers at its developments.

Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West Division, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands have announced this as the housebuilding sector experiences a boom

The house builder works with suppliers and sub-contractors across the country, including 100 Yorkshire-based businesses.

The number of homes built by Barratt Developments over the past year has increased by 10% and plans are in place for more than 350 homes to be built over the next six months.

Barratt says it will continue to support sub-contractors and suppliers across a number of industries, including civil engineering, brickwork and plumbing and heating moving forward, to ensure the homes built in the region are of the highest quality.

Barratt is hosting a one-day conference in September to update key partners on the business, the current market and the future land supply across West and South Yorkshire.

Martin Purdy, commercial director at Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West Division said: “It’s no secret that if the house building sector experiences a boost in terms of demand then we are able to work more closely with suppliers and subcontractors to support their businesses, and in turn support and grow the local economy.

“Our conference is planned to be a day where we can share the successes of the past 12 months, and outline our plans for the 2014 and 2015 with our partners in Yorkshire.”
