Newcastle fashion entrepreneur bags deal with Monsoon
Jessica McCarthy, owner of childrenswear brand Baggers Originals, has just secured a deal to sell the first branded products into global retailer Monsoon
This will be the first time in Monsoon’s 40 year history and in the childrenswear 20 year history that it has sold a brand other than its own.
Jessica re-launched Baggers Original after being the child model for the company in the late 80’s, when her mother Angela first launched a product range making waterproof jackets and trousers that fold into an inside pocket.
Jessica, who was just five when she became the face of the company, said: “When my mother created the brand in the ’80s, it was really popular with young families. Baggers won many national awards and the products which all fold into an inside pocket to form an easy to carry bag were loved by parents and children alike. I have always wanted to re-launch the brand and so far we are having a really great response to the products.”
Jessica re-launched Baggers Originals after 25 years and now sells on-line both boys and girls rainwear from ages 1-2 up to 7-8 years.
A Monsoon spokesperson said: “Baggers Originals is a fun, practical product that both parents and children love. It is very exciting as this is the first time Monsoon Childrenswear has ever collaborated with another brand. We are using one of our statement heritage prints on the design which makes them an extra special product.”
