Teesside bar pioneers drink-ordering app
The Empire in Middlesbrough is the first venue in the North East to make use of Q App - a time-saving app which allows customers to order drinks from their phone.
Staff can manage orders on a tablet behind the bar, the customer then receives a notification when their order is ready.
Other entertainment venues in the UK using Q App include London’s Royal Albert Hall in London and Ministry of Sound nightclub.
The app allows the user to browse establishments and their menus before playing their order.
Customers can also pay for their order using a credit or debit card via the app.
Ashley Wem, managing director at The Empire told The Gazette: “The owners of the app got in contact with me and asked us if we’d launch it here so we are going with it - it’s a brilliant app. You don’t even have to bother moving! Who wants to queue? You can order your drinks and have them brought to your table or you can go to the bar and collect them.”
