Towergate Insurance Manchester officially opens for business

The new Manchester office of Towergate Insurance, one of the UK’s largest independently owned insurance intermediaries, has been opened by Mark Hodges Towergate Group CEO and Manchester City Council Leader, Sir Richard Leese.

Creating 400 new jobs, the state-of-the-art offices are located in the heart of Spinningfields’ financial district, an area specifically selected as a major centre for people employed in financial and customer services.

A recruitment campaign has been operating since June to attract the right kind of employees, from customer service advisors to senior managers.

The focus throughout has been on attracting candidates with a strong customer service ethos, as well as relevant financial services experience.

Serving a substantial number of Towergate’s small commercial and personal lines customers, the new office has the scale that will allow phone lines to stay open for longer, delivering a better service and greater consistency for customers.

Mark Hodges, Towergate Group CEO, said: “It is a pleasure to be opening this office here in Manchester, which further increases our presence in this area.

“We will be creating 400 jobs and look forward to being a significant player in the region. Putting our customers first is important to us, and the creation of a dedicated customer centre will mean an improved service for them.

“This new centre has been fitted out to a high standard in a short amount of time and I have been very impressed with the calibre of people we have attracted from across the region.

“We made the right decision to come to Manchester and this new development shows the ambition and drive that will shape a very successful future for Towergate.”

Manchester City Council Leader, Sir Richard Leese added: “We welcome the faith and commitment large organisations have when they choose Manchester as a base for their operations.

“Manchester has a proven record in supporting the future success of businesses – whether start-ups or expansions – and in return, Manchester’s future growth is buoyed by employment opportunities for local people.”

Tim Newns, from MIDAS property development agency commented: “Towergate’s decision to invest in Manchester with this new facility is testament again to the city’s standing as the most significant regional financial services centre in the UK, able to attract one of the strongest brands in the insurance market creating a significant number of jobs.

“Spinningfields is a natural home for them, with its existing concentration of leading financial and professional services businesses and we are again seeing growth in financial services businesses looking to invest in Manchester, attracted by the availability of talent and high quality working environment.

“As always these investment processes are highly competitive and therefore we were delighted to secure what is one of the most significant financial services investments in the UK in recent years and we look forward to continuing to support Towergate as the new facility grows to ensure its success.”

Across the country, Towergate employs more than 5,000 people in over 100 offices, insuring everything from small businesses to celebrities, from houseboats to holiday homes.
