Leyland’s Zone the place to be for young people seeking jobs or training
Young people aged between 16 and 19 can learn how to gain more qualifications, further their education or secure employment or an apprenticeship at a jobs and careers event in Leyland.
Organised by Lancashire County Council’s Young People’s Service, the event will take place at Leyland Young People’s Centre, the Zone, West Paddock, on Thursday, September 4 between 6pm and 8pm.
During the evening, more than a dozen training providers, colleges and employers will be on hand with advice and information for young people. They will also bring with them numerous training opportunities, apprenticeships and vacancies – which young people can apply for on the night.
Many of the training providers will also offer incentives such as cash bonuses for good attendance at study and training programmes, free travel passes, free food, refreshments and trips out.
Qualified and experienced staff from YPS will also be available to help young people apply for jobs during the evening or to point them in the direction of the most relevant training provider for their needs.
Louise Haigh, young people’s worker at The Zone said: “These events are specifically for school and college leavers who are not sure what they should do next, and for 16-to-19-year-olds who are currently not in employment, education or training.
“We hold these events twice a year to help and encourage young people to gain further qualifications and get a job or an apprenticeship. Our aim is to give them impartial information, advice and guidance.”
Young people who attend the event will be entered into a competition to win prizes such as high street clothing vouchers. There will also be free refreshments for young people and their parents.
