Dani Saveker a semi finalist in new Venus Awards

Dani Saveker, the founder and CEO of the Midlands-head quartered organisation dedicated to supporting family-run and owned businesses across the UK, Families in Business, is a semi finalist in Birmingham’s inaugural NatWest Venus Awards that celebrate and recognise the city’s most talented women in business.

She is short listed in the Inspirational Woman of the Year category, one of 15 categories that cover a range of personal and business achievements of women in business.

Dani founded Families in Business (FiB) in 2012, taking her inspiration from the experience of running her own family’s manufacturing company, where she was the fourth generation – and only woman - of the family to lead the business.

With its roots firmly in the West Midlands, FiB has grown nationally to deliver membership, events, tools, workshops and a growing national network of advisers, and is regarded as the ‘go-to’ support network and professional community for family businesses.

Commenting on the NatWest Venus Awards, Dani said: “I’m really quite overwhelmed and humbled to be one of the semi finalists in the Cross Productions Inspirational Woman category in the first-ever Venus Awards in Birmingham.

“My own professional journey has involved lots of amazing people, and I have found great inspiration through them, as well as from the challenges that have come my way.

“Personally I’ve found that I am simply doing what I do because I have a crystal clear purpose to make a difference. It’s important to me that my Great Grandfather who originally founded our family business in 1903 would be proud of what I’m doing now. If that inspires, then that’s an added bonus.”

Joining Dani as a semi finalist in the Inspiring Woman category are Ulrika Dandekar, Debbie Huxton, Janet Lindsay and Georgie Moseley.

“The quality of all entrants and those short listed across all the categories are exceptional,” Dani said. “I am so honoured to be sitting alongside such incredible businesswomen who all have inspiring stories and had their own journey of difficulties and resilience.

“Good luck to all! Every single woman is incredible in her own way and should be celebrated.”

FiB Champion Kirsty Davies-Chinnock is also a semi-finalist in this year’s Venus Awards - the Lifetime Achievement and Business of the Year categories.

All finalists will attend the Awards’ ceremony at Birmingham’s ICC in November, where all category winners will be announced.

Venus Awards has been recognising and rewarding women since 2009 and this year has expanded into eight regions across the country, including Birmingham.
