Doncaster Rovers boss joins Sheffield City LEP

Gavin Baldwin, chief executive of the Doncaster Rovers Football Club, has joined the Board of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

The LEP recently secured a £320 million cash boost to create over 28,000 jobs and training for 40,000 people in the Sheffield City Region.

Gavin has a proven track record of successful leadership in both the financial and the leisure and culture industries, and has held senior positions across the private and public sector.

James Newman, Chairman of the Sheffield City Region LEP, said: “I officially welcomed Gavin Baldwin to the LEP at our Board meeting this week.

“I’m confident that Gavin’s positive leadership style and expertise across both the public and private sector will be a real asset to the Board as we work to boost economic growth and create jobs in Sheffield City Region.

“Gavin will complement our LEP’s outstanding private and public sector knowledge and commitment to driving forward our Strategic Economic Plan.”

Gavin Baldwin said: “I’m really excited about joining the LEP board as I believe that delivering the LEP’s vision for economic growth and jobs is the most important thing happening in the Sheffield City Region right now.

“So far my career has been about managing and growing organisations and businesses, and turning losses into profits. I hope that I can use my experiences in the private and public sectors to help the LEP to achieve its vision – which has business success and growth at its core.”

Gavin has been appointed following a full and open recruitment process which was managed by independent recruitment consultants Gatenby Sanderson.
