Free social media crisis masterclass announced in Durham

One of the nation’s finest online PR and social media specialist agencies, Prohibition, is hosting a free Social Media Crisis Management Masterclass at the Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham.

The free breakfast seminar, running between 8.00-9.30am on Thursday 20th November, will offer businesses and marketers from across the North East advice and guidance on how to respond effectively to an online crisis and provide useful tips on how to remain in control of their online reputation.

This short, yet informative workshop, open to all sectors of business, will also provide practical advice on how to identify and respond to an online crisis quickly, whilst helping businesses to determine the correct platforms to respond on.

Leading the workshop will be Chris Norton, managing director at Prohibition, who has more than 16 years’ experience in the PR industry. Social media blogger, Chris, speaks at marketing conferences across the globe and currently lectures at Leeds Metropolitan University. In 2013 he wrote a chapter on online crisis management for the CIPR’s official social media handbook, “Share this too,” which became the fastest selling social media book on Amazon that year.

Chris Norton said: “We are really looking forward to bringing our crisis master class to the North East and meeting some of the region’s amazing businesses. Being able to share some of our experiences and guidance with businesses should be really interesting and fun. We have found that a lot of marketers are often fearful of issues arising on social media but the truth is, if you know what you are doing you can contain and minimise a lot of problems before or even during the crisis. However, I still believe it’s important that people understand how fast news can now travel and how to effectively manage things when a crisis breaks. I’m particularly looking forward to walking them through some of the best practice examples, as real life stories always help highlight the best way forward.”

In 2013 Prohibition won the CIPR’s award for the “Best use of Digital” and also received silver for its “Best use of social media award” and this year the agency has been shortlisted for “Outstanding Agency of the Year.”
