Hendy Power announces expansion plans
One of the country’s leading power companies is on the expansion trail with plans for new sales and service operations in Hampshire.
Hendy Power, the award-winning industrial and marine engine division of the Hendy Group, has confirmed that it is set to relocate its entire sales team to brand new facilities at Swanwick Marina and move the repairs and service side of the operation to larger premises in Leigh Road, Eastleigh.
Speaking at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, Hendy Group managing director Paul Hendy said the division, set up in 1968, has enjoyed exceptional growth and the £250,000 investment in new facilities would enable Hendy Power to continue its planned expansion in this area.
“We are delighted to confirm the opening of two brand new facilities before the end of 2014 which will ensure that Hendy Power continues to set the benchmark in terms of power products in the UK,’’ he said. “We have sold more than 130,000 engines since we began and now hold franchises for FPT (Fiat-Iveco), Honda, Ford, Lister Petter and Lombardini.”
The new sales centre will be housed at Premier Marinas’ new boatyard development in Swanwick which Paul said would be ideal for the Honda sales team currently based at Hendy Honda in West Quay, Southampton and the Hendy Power staff currently based in Cosham.
In addition to a sales operation, the Swanwick facility of 2,880 sq ft, will offer workshops, storage and boat lifting. “This is an excellent location for our marine business to grow and we are delighted to be moving into the new complex which is part of a £5.8 million investment project by Premier Marinas,” said Hendy Power director Graham Kirk.
Premier Marinas Chief Executive Pete Bradshaw commented, “Swanwick’s new development will provide an unrivalled boatyard on the River Hamble and one of the best in the UK and we are delighted to welcome Hendy Power to our new facility.”
At Leigh Road, Hendy Power will have a state-of-the-art industrial workshop facility offering full engine repairs and servicing. “Leigh Road is set to be our centre of excellence for preparing industrial engines for all applications and for our repair and servicing operation,’’ said Graham.
