Martin-Brooks Putts Faith in Charity Golfers
Roofing specialists at Sheffield-based Martin-Brooks are preparing to tee off on another round of fundraising for local charities.
The firm is swinging into action for its annual charity golf day, held at Renishaw Park Golf Club, near Sheffield, on September 25.
Friends and colleagues from across the roofing industry will be joining Martin-Brooks for the 18-hole Stableford competition and post-round meal, at which prizes will be presented to the winning individual and team of four.
Dale Wright, Martin-Brooks’ contracts director, said: “We have been holding our annual four ball golf day for a number of years and it has attracted a growing following among our professional partners and suppliers. This month’s event is shaping up to be our most popular yet and a record number of teams are expected to tee off, helping us edge ever closer to our £25,000 fundraising target.”
Earlier in the year, an intrepid group of fitness fanatics from Martin-Brooks tackled the Total Warrior endurance race in Leeds, adding £850 to the firm’s charity fund. The quintet navigated 30 muddy obstacles along a 12.5km course around Bramham Park, completing the challenge in two hours 20 minutes.
To mark its 25th anniversary, Martin-Brooks pledged to raise £25,000 for local charities. The firm is well on the way to achieving its target and so far, almost £16,000 has been donated to its chosen organisations. They are Amy’s Retreat, Catcliffe MS Therapy Centre, Cavendish Cancer Care, Sheffield Talking News, St Vincent’s Furniture Scheme, The Rowan School, Norfolk Park Special School, Help for Heroes and Sheffield Institute Foundation’s motor neurone research centre.
