Rolls Royce to produce 30 Phantoms in its largest ever order

Hong Kong tycoon Stephen Hung has placed the biggest ever order for Rolls-Royce cars at the firm’s Goodwood factory in England.

Hung has bought 30 Phantoms, which he will use to chauffeur guests at a luxury resort he is building in Macau, scheduled to open in early 2016.

The order, which is worth $20 million (£12 million) purchase, surpasses the previous largest order of 14 Phantoms bought by Hong Kong’s Peninsula hotel in 2006.

Rolls-Royce said two of the cars will be the most expensive Phantoms ever commissioned, complete with gold-plated accents on both the exterior and interior.

Louis XIII Holdings is expected to pay Rolls Royce a $2 million deposit, $3 million more by the end of 2014 and the remaining $15 million upon completion of the order in early 2016.

The luxury resort is the latest in a long line of expensive developments lead by the former investment banker in China.

The resort will feature the world’s “most extravagant” hotel suite, boasting a 1,860-sq metre (20,000-sq ft) villa and costing approximately $130,000 a night.
