£30k bank funding helps businessman acquire Harrogate fish and chip shop

A businessman in the food and hospitality industry has received £30k backing to purchase a fish and chip shop in Harrogate.

RBS has provided start-up costs to entrepreneur Bryn Lachwatsky, to take over the running of an existing fish and chip shop on Grantley Drive.

Bryn previously owned a cafe in the centre of Harrogate and exited the business with a profit which he was looking to reinvest into a new venture.

Haroon subsequently lent the £30k to purchase the shop, buy the specialist cooking equipment required and take on the existing staff, alongside Bryn’s cash injection from his own personal funds.

Olivers 2 opened earlier this month and is already attracting attention from the local community and reporting positive figures. Bryn has taken on the existing staff, with one more position being created, which is positive for job creation in the area.

Bryn Lachwatsky, owner of Olivers 2 fish and chip shop said, “I enjoyed running the café in Harrogate and was on the lookout for a new business venture and Olivers 2 ticked all the boxes.

“We are grateful for all the local support we have received so far and looking forward to establishing ourselves in the local community.

“Haroon at RBS has been so supportive and has gone the extra mile for us in terms of advice and helping us get started, which is a refreshing change. Exciting times are ahead and I can look forward with great confidence knowing we have a trusted banking partner on board.”

Haroon Ashfaq, RBS relationship manager, added, “I am delighted we could support Bryn with his latest venture and welcome him to the bank. Business and Consumer confidence is increasing so now is a good time for start-ups to talk to RBS and take the brave step of owning and running a business.

“I wish Bryn all the very best of luck and look forward to hearing how his business is evolving.”
