Green energy company turns blue to support jeans for Genes Day
Employees at a West Yorkshire environmental and green energy specialist left their suits at home and wore their jeans on Friday 19th September to support Jeans for Genes Day 2014. The ‘green’ company was awash with blue denim to raise funds for Genetic Disorders UK.
Leo Group Ltd, which has sites in Halifax and Penrith, raised £281.70 by donning their denim for the day as well as selling raffle tickets and denim wearing gingerbread men. Employees at both sites got into the spirit of the event by making a donation of £2 each to wear their jeans on the day, with additional donations made for raffle tickets and denim themed baked goodies.
We all inherit a range of talents, skills and personality traits through our genes – they’re part of what makes us who we are. However, there are more than 6,000 genetic disorders and 1 in 25 children in the UK are born with one - that’s more than 30,000 babies each year.
Genetic Disorders UK is a charity that aims to transform the lives of children with genetic disorders. Leo Group’s fundraising efforts will go to the vital care and support these children urgently need. Managing Director Danny Sawrij said: “By fundraising for Jeans for Genes Day, Leo Group is helping Genetic Disorders UK in the amazing work that they do, offering much needed care and support to children with genetic disorders.“
“Everyone at Leo Group is committed to supporting communities through a range of charity work. This includes events like this as well as grants issued through our Community Fund.“
Founded in 2011, Leo Group’s Community Fund offers grants to local charities and good causes. Funding is directed towards groups working with children and young adults. The Community Fund is just one aspect of Leo Group’s community work. In the past two years Leo Groups charitable donations have been in excess of £250,000.
