How to prepare for iOS 8 update?

iOS 8, in many ways, is a great improvement over its predecessors. It is bringing in its wake, awesome features to boost user engagement, enhance device productivity and unmatched user experience.

1. Refresh Apps

2. Get New iTunes

Launch iTunes and look for updates. This is a must if you are seriously thinking of getting on the new iOS 8. Choose Check for Updates option on your Mac. You can easily find it in the iTunes menu. This option is available in the Help menu on a Windows desktop. Select Download iTunes and easily install the new version to stay relevant.

3. Enable Backups – Most Important

Before going for an iOS 8 upgrade do not forget to back up your iOS device. Do it using the iCloud or you may even do it manually via the iTunes. This lets you create a local back-up on your PC or Mac. Hop on to the iTunes and on the device page select the backup button and you are good to go.

If you are considering to go for an iCloud backup, go to Settings in iCloud followed by Storage and Backup. Now tap the Back up Now option to enable the process.

Though, it may sound simple, bear in mind that when you update iCloud Drive through iOS 8, it may make the process of older devices quite difficult. Unless, you plan to upgrade every iOS device to iOS 8, do not think of this option.

Play Smart

You actually do not have to delete everything that you have on your device to make room for iOS 8. Simply sync iPhone to your computer and download iOS 8 from here. This process will not take up much space on your phone.

What’s more? It will allow you to manually transfer the new iOS 8 upgrades to your device. This is a better and more reliable way as opposed to doing it over-the-air (OTA).

Choose Check for Update in your iTunes. Do not make the mistake of clicking on Restore iPhone, as it may delete all the content on your iOS.
