Alnwick software firm supports young talent

Northumberland-based firm, Metrology Software Products (MSP), have been supporting young talent in their area, offering two university students valuable opportunities to obtain essential experience within their chosen fields.

Laurence Reeves has just completed his second placement with MSP and is about to head back to Cambridge University. Laurence first joined the company back in August 2012, after being selected to complete a year-long placement ahead of his engineering degree at Cambridge. He returned this July, to continue with a summer placement as a Trainee Engineer.

Discussing his experience, Laurence said: “Both placements have been great and allowed me to get involved with diverse and complex engineering projects around the world. This hands on, practical experience is invaluable as it gives me a unique insight and understanding of the industry.

“I am grateful to MSP for the opportunity to continue these placements throughout my degree as I have found the experience a perfect accompaniment to the theory taught at Cambridge. I would recommend a career at MSP to anyone who is interested in software and engineering”.

MSP’s second placement student, Hannah Brown, currently studying Marketing at Newcastle University, is eight weeks into her year-long placement with the company, working as a Marketing Assistant.

Hannah has joined the Marketing Department at an exciting time, as MSP are currently undergoing substantial growth with a global distribution roll-out beginning in the next few months.

Hannah added: “As I approach my fourth year, I’m very excited to have the opportunity to work within MSP’s in-house Marketing Department. I will be given a large amount of responsibility and the opportunity to work on a range of projects. This will give me a wide perspective of the subject and help me decide which areas I would like to focus on in my fourth year. I look forward to the year ahead and this great opportunity with MSP and their Marketing Department.”
