First high street Taco Bell to arrive in Sheffield creating 30 jobs
Well-known US eatery Taco Bell has opened its doors on a high street for the first time in Sheffield.
Yesterday, the self-confessed largest Mexican-inspired restaurant chain in the world opened on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield, so far creating around 30 new jobs in the area.
Serving tacos, burritos and quesadillas, Taco Bell has invested in an 80-seat, dual-floor restaurant with free Wifi and mobile charging stations.
This will also be the first Taco Bell restaurant in Europe to have an open kitchen, where the dining room and kitchen are separated by a glass window in order to showcase the ‘food theatre’.
It will be the fourth location in the UK, with restaurants in shopping centres in Basildon, Manchester’s Arndale and Thurrock in Essex.
Nick Dawson, general manager, Taco Bell UK & Europe, said: “Over recent years we’ve had fans from numerous cities across the UK requesting a Taco Bell on their High Street, and Sheffield was high up on the list of demand.
“As the UK’s fifth largest city, with a huge student population, Sheffield is a great location for Taco Bell and we are proud to be partnering with our franchisee Northgate Fast Foods to add a new flavour to the restaurant options in the city.
“Customers want choice, and Taco Bell brings something different to the High Street, as well as customers’ taste buds, creating an experience and relationship that goes beyond food.”
One of the biggest QSR brands in the USA
Part of Yum! Brands, the world’s largest restaurant company, Taco Bell is one of the biggest quick service restaurant brands in the United States, serving more than 2 billion customers each year in the US and selling more than 2 billion tacos and 1.5 billion burritos in the process.
This latest move onto the UK High Street kicks off the brand’s wider expansion plans in the UK and internationally over the coming years. Currently, there are approximately 6,000 Taco Bell restaurants in the United States and more than 250 restaurants outside the United States. In addition to Sheffield, the UK currently has three Taco Bell concessions in food courts in Lakeside, Basildon and Arndale Manchester, and Yum! is optimistic about the long–term potential of growing Taco Bell in the UK.
