Football fundraiser continues to score for charity

~~Post-match football highlights and a live ice bucket challenge helped organisers of a charity event raise £33,000. Key moments from the tenth Yorkshire Property Charity Football Match, complete with a press conference and commentary from BBC Sport’s James Mason, were broadcast to the 350-strong audience that attended the event’s dinner, held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds. Earlier in the day, a team of property professionals beat an agents’ XI on penalties in the keenly contested game at The John Charles Centre for Sport for the side’s second victory in as many years. FIFA referee Martin Atkinson once again kindly refereed the match. Off the field, the generosity of guests at the dinner through games, a raffle and auction enabled children’s charity Barnardo’s to benefit to the tune of £33,000. Members of the event’s organising committee, including GVA’s Iain McPhail and Bruntwood’s Craig Burrow, took part in the ice bucket challenge which was broadcast to dinner guests via a video link. Jonny Phillips, of the organising committee, said: “We continue to be amazed by the ongoing generosity of Yorkshire’s business and property communities towards the event, which this year has celebrated its tenth anniversary. “We would like to thank our sponsors Bruntwood, Towngate, MEPC, Walker Morris, Blacks Solicitors and Harworth Estates and to James Mason and Lyndsay Burns for compering the evening. “We were delighted with the response to the new features we brought to the event this year and would like to thank Black Box Creative for giving up their time and producing a fantastic highlights package which was one of the highlights of the dinner.”
