Go North East collaborate with local businesses to launch new initiative
North East bus company, Go North East, has partnered with local businesses to launch a new scheme aimed at rewarding customers and driving more people through the doors of local shops, eateries and leisure attractions.
The Key Benefits initiative allows retail, leisure and tourism businesses to offer discounts to the bus company’s 100,000 Key cardholder customers, for free.
Members of the scheme benefit from having their offers promoted on 700 local buses, to 73,000 followers on social media sites and via Go North East’s website which receives 200,000 hits per month.
Local attractions already on board with the scheme - which rewards the bus company’s loyal customers - include Beamish Museum, AMF Bowling, Blue Reef Aquarium, Seven Stories, Baltic Café, Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, Quasar and Urban Wave.
The Key is a plastic, reusable smartcard that is topped up with credit used for travelling on Go North East buses and makes travelling by bus easier, cheaper and more secure.

Head of partnerships and communications at Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, Sally Dixon, said: “We’re really proud of our partnership with Go North East, which is an important part of our drive to make the museum as accessible as possible for families right across the region.
“Key card holders receive a 25 per cent discount on admission.
“This makes our Beamish Unlimited Pass – which allows you to come back as many times as you like for a whole year – incredibly good value for money.
“We’re excited about developing our partnership and are already exploring other ways in which Beamish and Go North East can work together in the future.”
Marketing and sales manager at Go North East, Stephen King, said: “We’re looking to boost local businesses by giving them the opportunity to offer exclusive discounts that encourage our 100,000 Key card holders to visit their outlets.
“Our passengers are looking for good deals on places to visit and activities to try as they get out and about with their families.
“We’ll be contacting businesses across the region in the coming weeks to form more partnerships for the Key Benefits customer reward scheme.”
