Parsons’ Project wins RIBA award

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) recently announced this year’s winners at the West Midlands’ Regional Awards, with Waverly School, a Stewart & Harris project announced as an award winning design.

Costing close to £20 million, Waverly School, which was completed in February of this year, is part of the Building Schools for the Future programme and is the first all-through school in the city.

Working on a sloping site, Stewart & Harris helped design a structure encompassing a variety of heights; allowing for landscaped terraces and the lower ends of the building to blend in against its suburban backdrop.

The school accommodates two buildings; one with space for 630 primary pupils and one for 900 secondary, with a central reception joining the two.

Stewart & Harris are part of the Parsons Group, who operate nationally as Patrick Parsons.

The RIBA award continues the Parsons Group’s successful start to 2014, as the Patrick Parsons’ Glasgow office was also involved in an award winning project. The ‘Resource Efficient House’ won ‘Highly Recommended’ at the RICS Scotland awards in April, recognising the continuing engineering excellence delivered by the Parsons’ Group.
