Fish & Chips is first past the winning post at Newcastle Race Day

Newcastle Racecourse is set to mix turf and takeaways after teaming up with the UK’s oldest supplier to Fish & Chips Shops to celebrate “The Nation’s Favourite” at a racing fixture.

The Fish & Chips Race Day on Wednesday the 1st of October is co-sponsored by Henry Colbeck Limited and will see the Gateshead based supplier welcome over 220 customers and suppliers to the racecourse as part of an industry celebration.

Family owned SGF Fish & Chips, a customer of Henry Colbeck Limited will also be handing out vouchers on the day for race-goers to redeem a portion of free Cod & Chips at their Killingworth based shop to celebrate 50 years in the business.

Jackie Pearson, Head of Marketing at Henry Colbeck Limited, said: “We are delighted to team up with Newcastle Racecourse to celebrate Fish & Chips at what promises to be a great day out.

“With almost 400 million portions eaten every year, Fish & Chips is still the nation’s favourite dish and the team at Henry Colbeck is looking forward to enjoying a day at the races with over 220 of our customers and suppliers to celebrate a national institution!

“We’re very grateful to SGF Fish & Chips for offering to supply every race-goer with a voucher to enjoy a portion of free Cod & Chips as part of the occasion.”

“Even more appealing is the fact all race-goers will receive a voucher for a portion of Cod & Chips from SGF Fish & Chips, a family-run business just five minutes away from Newcastle Racecourse.”

The Henry Colbeck Fish & Chips Race Day will see the first race get underway at 2:00pm and the last at 5:10pm. Tickets are priced at £10 for one enclosure (when booked online in advance).
