UK’s first digital bank appoint consultants to locate Durham headquarters

The UK’s first ‘digital-only’ bank Atom Bank, founded by Newcastle-born entrepreneur Anthony Thompson, has awarded a contract to North East property consultants JK Property Consultants, appointing the firm to secure office accommodation.

JK Property Consultants, whose clients include Technip Offshore Wind Limited, the North East Local Enterprise Partnership and PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), won the contract to find the 20-strong team both interim and permanent accommodation in Durham.

Launching in 2015, Atom Bank will employ around 160 people by the middle of next year with ambitions to increase staff numbers further as the bank enters the market.

With more than 50 years’ experience in commercial property, JK Property Consultants are reportedly one of the North East’s most successful chartered surveyors helping the country’s biggest organisations in their search for accommodation.

Principal at JK Property Consultants LLP, Kevan Carrick, said: “We’re delighted to be representing Atom Bank at such an exciting time in its development.
