RE:SYSTEMS creates One Direction mobile app for HarperCollins
RE:SYSTEMS has designed and developed an exciting new mobile companion application for global superstars, One Direction.
Mobile and web specialists, RE:SYSTEMS was commissioned by world-leading English-language publishers, HarperCollins who wanted a ‘free-to-download’ app that not only interacts with One Direction’s autobiography – just released – but also acts as a digital point-of-sale for the book.
In just a few days, the app has already delivered over 60,000 downloads, and received more than 1,500 five star reviews on the Google Play store alone.
Availability of the 1D Official Book app, built for iOS and Android mobile devices, coincides with the launch of ‘One Direction: Who We Are: Our Official Autobiography’ – and can be downloaded at http://www.whoweareapp.com/
Using the app, fans are able to activate hidden, never-before-seen content by placing their mobile device over motifs and photographs within the book, as illustrated by the band’s welcome in-app video.
This includes exclusive access to photos, videos, interviews, intimate clips from the band’s first audiobook and quiz questions, fed into the app throughout the year via the CMS (Content Management System). Points are collected as users answer quiz questions correctly, allowing hidden content, or ‘fan extras’ to be unlocked.
To capitalise on One Direction’s massive following on Facebook, fans can log on to the app via Facebook, if preferred.
This not only allows users to share the app with friends and gain more 1D points but also enables HarperCollins to capture important user data to deeply understand their audience while ensuring that the age-dependent privacy guidelines are adhered to. HarperCollins Digital Editor, Rachel Kenny commented:
“RE:SYSTEMS were a joy to work with – consistent, creative and full of energy. We’re so pleased to be offering fans of the global juggernaut One Direction something really special this year with the 1D Official Book app – a truly complementary print and digital offering that brings to life the guys’ story in a whole new way.”
