Accountancy firm takes over another city accountants
One of the largest family-run accountancy practices in Coventry has taken over another city company to continue its expansion.
Haren and Sonal Shah from chartered certified accountants Shah & Co have acquired Mistry & Co in Far Gosford Street in the city centre following the retirement of owners Gulab and Gita Mistry.
Its one employee will join Shah & Co’s 14-strong workforce at its base at Cash’s Business Centre in Widdrington Road, Radford.
Haren Shah, director at Shah & Co, said he would meet all of Mistry & Co’s clients over the coming weeks and months to welcome them to Shah & Co.
“It is an exciting time to continue our expansion and we are honoured to have taken over Mistry & Co which has been practicing for the last 22 years,” he said.
“We are also a family-run company and we have a similar ethos which means there will be a smooth changeover process for Mistry & Co’s clients who, like our own, are mainly SMEs.
“Since we are also an SME it means we are perfectly placed to provide advice since we understand the issues they are facing such as succession planning and inheritance tax which our experts are here to provide advice with.
“Alongside Gulab, I will be meeting Mistry & Co’s clients over the next few weeks and months to explain the services we provide.
“Over the last 29 years, we have built up a client base of around 800 in a variety of sectors from dentists and engineers to retailers and manufacturers serving predominantly the community of Coventry.
“We have grown, as our clients have grown, and this expansion is another example of that. It means we provide a personal, quality service in many areas including legal services, business support, taxation and accountancy advice and we plan to employ another two or three staff in the near future to add even more services.”
Haren added: “It is two years since we moved from our initial base in Station Street East in Foleshill to Cash’s Business Centre and we have never regretted it.
“We have so much more room for our staff and clients when they are visiting and the extra car-parking is a real bonus.
“We will be celebrating our 30th anniversary in business next year and we are taking our own advice on succession planning since our son, Jay, has joined the business and he is working hard towards becoming a partner.”
Gulab Mistry added: “I have known Haren for many years and I know our clients are going to be in the best possible hands.
“It was time for Gita and I to retire and we are pleased the business we have built-up has been taken over by a company which has similar values to ours.”
