Charity Golfers Pitch in to Support Martin-Brooks
The roofing specialists at Sheffield-based Martin-Brooks are in the pink after a group of 69 generous golfers took to the greens to raise almost £1,500 for local charities.
A record 18 teams took part in Martin-Brooks’ annual golf day, the proceeds from which have edged the firm closer to its £25,000 fundraising target.
Held at Renishaw Park Golf Club, near Sheffield, the 18-hole Stableford competition was won by IBN Construction, followed closely by the team from Forticrete Concrete, who took second place. Prizes were also presented for longest drive, the putt nearest the pin and to the three individuals with the most points, which was again topped by IBN’s star player, Wayne Parkin.
Dale Wright, Martin-Brooks’ contracts director, organises the annual competition. He said: “I would like to thank the colleagues, friends and professional partners who helped boost our fundraising by giving their time so generously to our golf day. Each year, the number of participants grows and it is now regarded as a staple event in our charity calendar.”
To mark its 25th anniversary, Martin-Brooks pledged to raise £25,000 for local charities. They are Amy’s Retreat, Catcliffe MS Therapy Centre, Cavendish Cancer Care, Sheffield Talking News, St Vincent’s Furniture Scheme, The Rowan School, Norfolk Park Special School, Help for Heroes and Sheffield Institute Foundation’s motor neurone research centre.
