NE’s 5* spa makes national awards shortlist

Rockliffe Hall Spa in Hurworth, County Durham has made both the regional and national finals in the prestigious Good Spa Guide Awards.

The multi-award winning spa, which the guide named as one of the UK’s top five most luxurious spas in July, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Wellness Programme’ and the ‘Sheer Luxury’ categories, where it is the only one in the North East to have made the final list. The Good Spa Guide’s expert judges will make their final decision on winners in November.

In addition, Rockliffe Hall is a regional finalist which is decided by a public vote. The 5* spa is up against the likes of Woodland Spa in Lancashire and the Mere Golf Resort in Cheshire and the team at Rockliffe Hall is now hoping that people in the North East area will get behind them and vote for their local spa as the overall winner.

The Good Spa Guide is considered the expert guide to the best spas and treatments in the industry. Earlier this year, the guide introduced a new category of ‘5 Bubble Luxury’ and nominated just five UK spas within this category. Having already been awarded five ‘Bubbles’ by the Good Spa Guide, Rockliffe Hall also clinched this top five position- the only one in the North of England.

Following an extensive and thorough review by a mystery ‘Spa Spy’, the Good Spa Guide said that Rockliffe Hall demonstrated a “combination of luxury, good facilities and great treatments.” The Spa Spy added that Rockliffe Hall was “the perfect ‘5 Bubble’ experience” and had “high service levels that will meet the most demanding of standards.”

And in September, Rockliffe Hall was named in the Sunday Times’ list of the Ultimate 100 British Hotels for its spa.

Rockliffe Hall’s spa director, Liz Holmes, said: “The Good Spa Guide really does put spas through incredibly thorough assessments so we are thrilled to have made both the regional and national shortlists. We’re very fortunate in the North East to have a loyal following and we’re hoping to be a winner later in the year when the awards are announced.”
