Teesside entrepreneur in startup salon and swimwear store
Teesside entrepreneur Gemma Pybus has launched a new salon, Hartburn Tanning, in a former homeware shop on Harper Parade, Hartburn.
Chartered surveyors Sanderson Weatherall helped Darlington-born businesswoman to secure the premises.
As well as offering sunbed sessions and related tanning oils, Gemma has moved her existing online ladies’ swimwear and bikini store, Spoil You Boutique, into the shop.
Hartburn Tanning has already created a part-time job for an assistant to support Gemma, who decided to establish the business after eight years working for airlines.
Andrew Wilkinson, Partner at Sanderson Weatherall’s Teesside office, negotiated the lease for the former Adore My Home shop on behalf of his client, the Co-Op.
Gemma, who is from Hurworth, Darlington, said: “This is a great venue in which to set up my first tanning salon and to incorporate my existing online business.
“I am so pleased to be established in my own shop and the buzz I get from employing someone and growing the business is incredible.
“Andrew and the team at Sanderson Weatherall were great in helping to organise the lease and I am looking forward to a successful future with my new business.”
Andrew Wilkinson said: “Helping young entrepreneurs to get established is a real high point of working in property, and Gemma has a real vision of a business which offers more than simply tanning, with the retail element of her business.
“We wish her well for her future in business.”
