Lime Lace celebrates Kalixa Pro Spirit of Small Business award
Sam King, 35 from Harrogate, is celebrating after receiving the Best Small Business – North East Award in a national competition.
The Kalixa Pro Spirit of Small Business Awards were launched earlier this year to celebrate and recognise the very best entrepreneurs, small businesses and sole traders from across Britain.
Lime Lace was born in August 2012 when Sam realised there was a gap in the market for a retailer who specialised in eclectic and unusual home interiors and gifts. The website is now a one stop market place for designer and unusual furniture wallpaper lighting gifts jewellery and art. She spent months working on her business plan financial planning and competitor analysis – and saved enough money to self-fund her business.
As one of twelve category winners, Lime Lace will now receive a cash injection of £1,000 and a business support package including bespoke corporate photography session, website build or optimisation and money can’t buy mentoring session with awards judge Michelle Mone OBE, one of the UK’s most successful female entrepreneurs and owner of international lingerie brand, Ultimo.
But that’s not all; each of the winners is now in with a chance of scooping the overall Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award which comes with a grand prize of £10,000.
Sam King said: “Winning would mean the world to me, being a single mother of two young children and starting my business on my own with my savings, has been incredibly hard work but very rewarding. I hope to inspire anyone who has a dream of starting their own business to go for it!”
The public vote for the overall Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award is now open, and will see the winners whittled down to one grand prize winner of £10,000 – chosen by you!
